The Good Thing About Getting Sick of Reading How to Do What You Want to Do

You want to do something, right? Say it’s travel the world for three months. So the first thing you do is jump on google and type: “How to travel the world”. Wow the first result is basically what you were looking for. It runs through someone’s 5 tips on how to be a world class traveler. You are feeling pretty good, right?

Once you reach the bottom of the page you see another article titled “How to Travel the world in 30 days.” You hop over to that article and you are blown away again by how much great information is on there.

You look at the time and holy shit, it’s been 3 hours! You did well today with all that research under your belt, you are sure to nail this traveling thing.

So the next day, you are so fueled by yesterday’s sucess that you google “what makes a great traveler” And two hours later, you realize you’ve completed a solid leap frog search exactly like yesterday. It is like you are chasing your dream tail and totally dying with the pleasure.

This is when I got fed up! After several hours of reading “how to become a blogger” I was just sick of it. The articles that were meant to teach me how to vlog just made me feel like it was all hopeless. Do you have the right camera? What about sound. Oh yea your channel name should be unique. Also buy the domain name incase you want a website. By the way you should probably sign up for Facebook, twitter and instagram accounts while you are at it. One last thing, why are you doing this again? Because that will decide the content of your vlog.

Question after question, business concern after business concern. It was like I wasn’t reading “how to vlog”, but rather “How to make Money blogging”, I never typed the keyword, money, and funnier still, it was never even mentioned in any of the articles!

And there in lies the problem with any industry that gets too bloated with the money seakers. Everyone’s heard how much money Pewdiepie’s made and want a sweet slice of that easy cash pie! Now there’s a market for people just to READ about being vloggers!

The beauty that is YouTube is primarily because of the successful people on it. But the people who are really successful on it are those that do it because they love it, they would rather do nothing else, and the ones that have so much fun with it! Will they feel like it’s fun every day? Hell no, but they aren’t head over heels chasing the “YouTube celebrity status” because that’s my ticket out of here. They are doing it because they love it!

So figure out why you love it, skip the How To blogs for now, jump into vlogging and who knows, maybe you’ll found out that you actually do love it :)
