CHIKARA and The Crucible Prepare For Civil War?

I know everyone in wrestling and their mothers are focused on All Elite Wrestling right now (and I’m no exception), but one of the best stories going on in pro wrestling right now kicked into a much higher gear over the same weekend.

Last I checked in on CHIKARA and “The Crucible”, we were seeing what the Crucible was about and what was going on.

Since then, things have definitely escalated.

As of this writing, I have not seen either of the Anniversario shows; one of them hasn’t even happened yet. (Although I will be seeing both very soon). But — did The Crucible attach CHIKARA’s founder — and then put a mask on him?

One of the tenets of those that joined The Crucible was that they had no identity until they earned one. Each new recruit was forced to don a mask until they had proven themselves in battle, at which time they could remove the mask and have their “identity.”

So what I’m seeing is, Ophidian and the Crucible made a statement by removing Quack’s identity?

Whoa.

Ophidian has been outspoken since he and his crew were busted by Quackenbush and his crew over what was happening at the Wrestle Factory after-hours.

Apparently Quack did not approve of Ophidian’s gambit — even though that gambit was done for Quackenbush and the company that he had built and held dear.

The difference in philosophies and ideals seems to have now led to a full-on civil war in CHIKARA.

A heartbreaking turn of events, but one that’s completely fascinating to see unfold.

And we’re only just getting started with it. This is going to be amazing to follow.

The mission of The Gorilla Position is to portray the human element of professional wrestling and celebrate its culture in a multimedia magazine-style format.

Rather than break news stories or publish the latest gossip, The Gorilla Position aims to tell the stories of pro wrestling’s storytellers and honor the talent, hard work, and sacrifice of those who have entertained us for decades, those who continue to do so today, and those who will carry the banner of the sport into the future.
