The basics: what’s your name and what do you do to pay the bills?
My name is Nicky and I make granola.

Why did you decide to set up your own business?
I was making my healthier version of granola for my family after discovering quite how much sugar was in the cereals my children were eating. One thing lead to another and Dizzy Bee Kitchen was born.

Who are your favourite local gems #HertsHero?
Oh my gosh.. I feel so lucky to know so many wonderful local businesses, all of my stockists are great inde cafes, supporting micro businesses like mine. I love the supportive business community here in St Albans. Also I love Jen Roffe Typography, Tommy and Lottie children's clothing, Crumbs ’n’ all Caribbean chutneys and cakes, Montet Designs mosaics and murals, Hodge Interiors for gorgeous furniture and accessories , Heartwood Candle totally sumptuous! I am Cocoa, deee-lishh handmade chocolates, Carpenters Nursery Farm shop for great goodies and plants, B Healthy health shop, Cobbled Kitchen cookery classes, Lacon design, creative sofa Design, Chloe Dunn Design, Make and Mend , Quirky Interiors, Heavens a Cupcake, Rock Pop Candy and so many more I really could fill the rest of the interview!!!

What top tip would you share with other business owners?
Outsource the things that you are not so good at, it will take you three times as long as an expert.. eg for me- Website support. Time is a valuable commodity!

Where do you go for a bit of escapism?
For escapism Heartwood forest or if in need of some quiet time a wander round the Abbey is rather restorative!

What is the best thing about owning your own business?
The people I meet , my lovely customers and the cafés , delis and farm shops.

What do you find the most challenging about owning your own business?
As I have three young children, it’s time…

What’s your guilty pleasure?
A (large) glass of prosecco with a bar of I Am Cocoa white chocolate and raspberry ! …..and relax!
