Announcing Our New Space

In the Summer of 2015, we embarked on an ambitious mission to build something we and many current and aspiring entrepreneurs wish existed when we came to Cal — a home to Berkeley students, faculty, and alumni founders. Last month we announced that we were moving out of our first home to make way for the building to be demolished and redeveloped.

Today, we’re announcing our new home — just around the corner and still right across the street from UC Berkeley’s campus –– at 2311 Bowditch Street.

Inside the first floor of The House 2.0

As we step into a new chapter inside our new home, we found ourselves reflecting on the last several years of building support for the Berkeley community. In a short period of time, our first home supported over 10,000 Berkeley community members.

We’ve had the opportunity to back over 75 of Berkeley’s best startups. A great recent case-study is Oasis Labs, founded by UC Berkeley Computer Science Professor Dawn Song who is also a Faculty Partner on our team. We had the opportunity to watch them grow from three founders to a team of almost twenty within The House, and then go off to make waves in the marketplace with their recent $45MM raise.

We’ve also had the opportunity to host prolific Berkeley founders like Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak, Super Bowl Champion and Beast Mode Founder Marshawn Lynch, and Warby Parker Co-Founder Dave Gilboa. These are just a few of the hundreds of events we have hosted in partnership with the many student organizations that are member organizations of The House.

The sustained energy, passion, and quality of work and events created by student organizations are engines that drive much of the exciting activity within the Berkeley entrepreneurship community.

We’ve learned a lot over the last several years about serving the community, and we’ll be taking those learnings with us into the next chapter.

In this next chapter, we’re moving just down the street. We look forward to working together to support the Berkeley entrepreneurship community.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates soon. Go Bears!
