BEFORE MONEY AND BEYOND
Before money, there was barter. People traded favors in exchange for other favors. Money was created to make it convenient to trade favors that were not tied to trust nor time. Unfortunately, people realized that unlike food and favors, money would never spoil and could be passed down and so the race to accumulate money began. Large stacks of money gave the advantage to the holders. Fairness gathered dust, it was easier to just buy your side, than be fair.
Financial systems were created so that this money could grow on its own without actual physical work, creating an even larger divide, blocking entry with esoteric nomenclature and terminology. Well, the age of consumption, greed, and accumulation is ending. The planet has started signaling that it won’t be so giving anymore. Flooding, fires, tornadoes, hurricanes, typhoons, global pandemics, what else will she dish out?
KOKORO 心*
Kokoro 心 adds the heart, mind, spirit (心) to money. When inspired, human’s 心 is limitless. Kokoro 心 coin technology will inspire humans with programmed intentions.
Kokoro 心 is a proof-of-concept made for Sirius Labs x chia’s Global Chia Hackathon 2021. It is a smart coin built on Chia’s Network. Kokoro 心 makes full use of chialisp, chia’s programming language that powers smart transactions. It also innovates on chia’s unique consensus algorithm of Proof of Space and Time (PoST) on blockchain technology.
*Kokoro 心 is an old Japanese term meaning “heart, mind, spirit”.
KOKORO 心 x CHIA FEATURES
Embedded Intentions aka “ruleset”: Leveraging chialisp smart contract technology, Kokoro 心 embeds intentions/rules into each individual coin creating a more decentralized, secure model. Current frameworks like Ethereum place smart contracts on a separate ledger from the coin. Chia technology allows us to give back power to the coin holder.
- Expiration Date: Coin disappears if not used to avoid the issues with hoarding of capital.

3. Fractional Renewal of Coins: When intention is fulfilled, the disappeared coin grows back!
Flexibility: Coin owner can add extra secondary rules to their coins, that get passed down for a set period of time.
Transactional: Nested rules must be satisfied before coin can be spent.
Coin Collaboration Communication: Individual smart coins can communicate with one another via chialisp technology. Announcements will be broadcast randomly in time to other coins so that secondary rules programmed by the user can be shared for innovation purposes, similar to how new ideas can be sourced from the child’s game of “telephone”.
Coloured Coin Offers: An added feature in development, allows a user to create unfinished transactions, and anyone who finds or sees the “Offer” can accept the “Offer” by making a transaction that finishes the other side. This sets up for a Scavenger Hunt for Good.
Reliability: chialisp is built on Lisp, which is a vetted programming language for over 60+ years.
Accessibility: Anyone can run a Chia cryptocurrency farm to grow coins in unused disk space using low power. This makes Chia a more green, accessible, and sustainable cryptocurrency option. Farming is more sustainable than mining, if done properly.
KOKORO 心 x PROOF OF SPACE AND TIME (PoST)
A unique and important feature of Kokoro 心 is “Fractional Renewal of Coin” meaning, when the user spends the coin appropriately (fulfilling the intentions of the coin), the coin is renewed fractionally. Proof of Space and Time allows Kokoro 心 to re-reserve the space on a Chia Farmer’s plot for new coins at fractional values, where the former coin disappeared from, this happens sequentially. Chia Farmers still collect their transaction fees for every transaction.
Furthermore it enables “Time Lords” to timestamp transactions, including the birth of a coin, so that Kokoro 心’s “Expiring” feature that is dependent on the coin’s birthday is enabled. Expiring of coins avoids hoarding issues that current capital enable which eventually lead to societal inequities and a tendency for non-actions due to fear of loss.
FRACTIONAL RENEWAL OF COIN 👉 0?
Will the value go to zero? No, a non-zero number halved will never be a zero, it’s mathematically impossible. We just share the space to infinity. If we share the space and use capital as a means to inspire action, does its numerical value matter? If we are instead investing in our planet, our home, our communities and our people with our actions, isn’t a place to live and be joyful enough. But for the value enthusiasts who value numerical recognition, Kokoro 心 assigns a number to when the user first adopted the platform. Similar to how tech companies number their employees’ entrance to the organization. This should satiates people’s need to be ahead and also drive more market adoption.
KOKORO 心 MARKET
A sampling of potential users include Governments and/or Community Leaders who want to steer the group to work together for a common cause without heavy centralized leading. Social Movement Organizations that need resources to run and incentivize member activity. Local identities such as Caregivers that give value to society, whom can be recognized and advocate for better standing with more resources. Climate Action Startups that need seed money/people to create a prototype to show proof of success. Kokoro 心 can also power Social Contracts with elected officials. For example, politicians can opt to be paid with Kokoro 心 so that they are more incentivized to represent the public as the public pays them. Voters can then choose to elect politicians that opt Kokoro 心 as their method of payment. Payment is contingent on the community’s set intentions and not the few that hold the wealth.
The common theme is organizations need resources, time, creativity, energy and human organizing power to accomplish the goals they set. Kokoro 心 is the decentralized financial instrument that guides without a leader, but with an intention. This frees up leaders to focus their energies on other aspects of the organization by creating an inspired grassroots army that creatively tries to fulfill the coin’s intentions. Sort of like philosophy and values embedded into money. The convenience factor will attract our first users and drive further adoption as organizers know that no one likes to be led, but humans love the hunt to earn. Kokoro is the perfect “carrot” to drive intention-led grass root collective actions.
