So like Luvvie, I subscribe to Black history year. And I’m glad to have kicked off this year celebrating all the magic that we are as Black women entrepreneurs with the Disrumption Playlist series. Each week we get to know a woman entrepreneur building her queendom and the music that soundtracks her as she leads.

Todays’ 5th installment features the fierceness who is Chanel Free, The Fearless Coach. Since starting her life coaching business in 2014 at the age of 33, she has helped women outsmart the fears that hold them back, activate the faith to move forward, and build kick ass coaching brands that create financial freedom. Her first lesson is taught in leading by example.

Her playlist makes me literally laugh out loud! Four of the seven songs in her playlist are explicit, showing the world that she moved by boldness and makes no apologies for it. A l’il Migos, Drake and Rihanna and Party Next Door to makes the work pay attention. Yet, she keeps her spirit, faith and love in the mix with Hezskiah and Common to bring balance to her life, which I am sure translates to her work. But, she won’t go to far through any day without a car jam by Amine to remind her not to be too serious about any of it.

So pop on over to Spotify and let Chanel’s playlist inspire your bold with balance. I know I did!

Until next week, Ciao!

Favorite quote by a Black woman entrepreneur:

“I am not lucky. You know what I am? I am smart, I am talented, I take advantage of the opportunities that come my way and I work really, really hard. Don’t call me lucky. Call me a badass” Shonda Rhimes

Disrumption Playlist:

Song #1: Bad and Bougie by Migos

I love this song. It makes me feel like I can take over the world. I’m from Brooklyn so, I am a little bad. I have a round the way girl type of vibe. But, on the other hand I am bougie, I like nice things and have high standards. This song is the perfect description of me.

Song #2: Love Star by Common and Marsha A.

This song just makes me feel good. Something about it reminds me of the love that my fiance and I share. I put this song on repeat a lot.

Song #3: Fake Love by Drake

Drake is one of my favs. He can do no wrong in my eyes. He will always have a permanent spot on my playlist.

Song #4: Better by Hezekiah Walker

This song lifts my spirits and brings me to tears each time I hear it. Not sad tears, but happy tears because I am grateful for how far God has brought me and excited for the future. He never ceases to amaze me so I know it will be great.

Song #5: Not Nice by Party Next Door

Most people don’t know this about me, but my family is from Trinidad and Tobago. And growing up in Brooklyn, which is a HUGE melting pot of West Indians there is a heavy Caribbean influence in my life. This song takes me back to old school dance hall parties in a small, hot basement, with one light in the corner. Those were the best parties ever.

Song #6: Sex with Me by Rhianna

Being a CEO sometimes you can totally get consumed with work, work, work (pun intended). This song reminds me to let go a bit, drop my inhibitions and have a good time.

Song #7: Caroline by Amine

This is my dance song. When I want to just let loose in the house or in the car, this is my jam.

Tune in next Friday for another Lady Creator and her ‘Disrumption’ Playlist.
