The Iron Yard CEO named 2016 Aspen Institute Braddock Scholar

The Aspen Institute recently announced the newest Braddock Scholars and we’re so excited to share that our CEO Peter Barth is part of the 2016 class!
The Braddock Scholars program is designed to support members of the Aspen Global Leadership Network who are leading innovative organizations that have the potential to make a transformative impact on society. Through mentorship initiatives, peer-learning and discretionary grant capital, the program supports entrepreneurs with the ambition and ability to achieve significant scale with their organization. This is a huge honor and great opportunity for both Peter and The Iron Yard.
We sat down with Peter to talk about being named a Braddock Scholar and what he hopes to gain from the program over the next year:
What does it mean to you to be named a Braddock Scholar?
It’s a great honor to be selected. After working with a mentor in the Liberty Fellowship, an incubator for leaders in South Carolina and another of Aspen Global Leadership Network’s programs, I’ve come to really enjoy and value that time.
What elements of the Braddock Scholar program are you looking forward to most?
Really all of it — the mentorship, the peer group and the personal development opportunity. I’m not sure yet what I’ll pursue for that last one, but after hearing about some of the experiences from last year’s class I’m sure it will be amazing.
What do you hope to accomplish in the program both personally and for The Iron Yard?
I think the direct take away will be professional development for me personally but in the context of growing The Iron Yard. My mentor is Marc Nathanson and he’s had a pretty amazing adventure, his insight into opportunities and challenges will be invaluable.
