I threw a stone into the creek.

I watched my hands raise the stone above my head.

I watched the stone leave my hands.

I watched the stone enter the creek.

I watched the ripples racing outwards, fading into nothing.

I watched the feathery fins of fish flash and vanish in an instant.

I watched the women on the shore recoil from underneath the magnificent splash.

I watched the children in the boat shout at me “Hey mister, watch where you are throwing those boulders!”

I watched the unsettled ducks watching us unknowingly.

I watched the more settled ducks who weren’t as astute sort of meander around as if they were wondering “whats going on?” “what was that loud splash?” and probably “is there any bread around?”

I watched the police man angrily approach, flip through a book, searching for a law about throwing really big stones into creeks with so many people around.

I watched the police man shrug it off, shake a finger at me, and walk back to his car in defeat.

I watched a cloud that resembled my ancestors, nodding and encouraging.

I watched some garbage blow by in the wind. They really ought to do a better job cleaning this place up. Or at least people ought to leave with what they came in with.

I watched all of this and though “I am the strongest man in the park. I can throw the largest rock.”
