On a Scale of 1 to 10, Where Are You?

A map is of no use if you can’t locate your current position on it.

Taking stock of both your skill sets and your greatest hurdles is a vital step in mapping out your journey. Keeping an open mind is just as vital. Anticipating hurdles doesn’t necessitate a foreknowledge of them; it simply calls upon you to be resourceful and determined in your approach to overcoming them.

A poised mind and persistent spirit always create solutions by going over, under, around or through the obstacle, no matter the nature of it. Looking into the past is an exercise in gathering information, not seeking an old comfort zone to park in. This exercise makes sense only when your examined experiences provide lessons applicable to your life’s upward mobility.

When looking at your vision, health, relationships, and business, rate them weekly, or at least monthly, using a scale of 1 to 10. If your answer is not a confident 10, the new question becomes “Why not?” This is the point of “diving into the pain,” of acknowledging your current level of achievement…or lack thereof.

How do you mitigate that pain. The first step, however, is to acknowledge the
pain so your subconscious mind knows there is a problem that not only needs, but also deserves, to be fixed. Start by using a personal journal. Write down your current ratings.

Most of us, especially men, are afraid to acknowledge pain.
However, conscious individuals know the value of being honest
with themselves. Doing so involves being able to acknowledge pain,
regardless of circumstances. Women are traditionally more open
and therefore tend to advance more fluidly through this part of the
process. Regardless of your gender, this step is critical to living an
elevated life.
