Yep, there’s a hole in the bucket.

Many seem to be opting for WordPress. I always liked Medium better — far cleaner. I was surprised to learn that many users preferred the Disqus plug-in for comments on WordPress over the Medium comments system. But I do 95% of my commenting on a computer vs. a mobile phone. I keep a WordPress blog going, but it’s only for secondary publishing. WP is a more viable platform right now if you’re relying on advertising. Medium hasn’t found a solution to that. But then neither has anyone else, really. Until there is a revenue model that doesn’t alienate and offend we entitled readers who have grown to expect everything for free, the churn will go on.
