I took advantage of an opportunity to play recreational basketball on lunch break five days a week for about three years. First it was something I really enjoyed. Moving into the top half of the skill chain was extremely satisfying. Toward the end I realized it had become more a habit than a joy. I realized that at some unmarked point I’d continued playing because it was something I had loved instead of something I still loved. I moved on.
