The Beauty of Trying
If there is one thing that I take pride in about myself, and everyone who is struggling just like me, it is the fact that we try. We try to get out of bed even when it pulls us stronger than gravity. We try to choose the best outfit for the day even if all we ever want is to stay in our pajamas. We push ourselves to socialize even when isolation gives us more comfort. We try to live even if living feels like a waste of time.
The small things that we do just to see if there’s even an ounce of hope left are also the source of hope itself. They fuel the mind and heart, reminding us that even in our worst condition, we can still be someone: someone who tries and that’s good enough. We might not be someone great today, but we’re trying to be, and I think that’s beautiful. There is beauty in the becoming. Planting and watering your own seeds to become exquisite is worthy of admiration.
Obviously, we’re human, and there will be times when even trying feels extremely difficult. So, take a break. The biggest blessing that the world has offered is the freedom to be who we want to be, the freedom to control what goes on in our minds, and the freedom to let go of what’s weighing us down. If today, you don’t want to try, then so be it. The sun will shine again, and the moon will always show up, even half full. So when things get a little bit easier, even just a little, let’s show up for ourselves.
Trying exposes us to the marvels of life. It gives us a glimpse of what it is like to just ... live.
It’s easier said than done especially on our most vulnerable days. We will trip and fall, ending up more wounded than we already are. But I believe that the most remembered soldiers are the ones who stood their ground despite the enormous amount of bullets. We’ll never know where this takes us, but I am pretty sure it’s far from the streets of regret. Trust me, you wouldn’t want to be there.
Leave a mark; let your legacy be passed on as the person who survived by trying and truly lived before dying. As long as the earth continues to spin, we will try and try again.
