“When the East India Company took control of the country, India’s share of world GDP was 23 per cent. When the British left it was just above 3 per cent.”

The ripples of the oppression are so strong, that despite the collective efforts by so many powerful governments like that of Indira Gandhiji, Atal Bihari Vajpayeeji, and now Narendra Modiji, our share of the global GDP is 3.9%.

‘It's true that the scars of oppression are long-lasting, but the best part is they don't last forever!’

‘It’s not that a powerful entity doesn't fall. It definitely can. But what differentiates it from others, is that it doesn't stop, it rises again with ever more enthusiasm’

But do you know what is the best part about India? We never cease to work hard and amaze the world. Don't believe me? No probs. But here are some sources too authentic to be ignored-

India became the world’s fifth-largest economy last year, according to data from the IMF’s October World Economic Outlook. When ranked by nominal GDP, the country leapfrogged France and the UK…. The country’s GDP growth has been among the highest in the world in the past decade — regularly achieving annual growth of between 6–7%.’ — World Economic Forum

India remains the fastest growing economy ahead of China’- Economic Times, 2018

India as an Economic Superpower
The economy of India is the world’s seventh-largest economy by nominal GDP and the third-largest by purchasing power parity (PPP). After the 1991 economic liberalisation, India achieved 6–7% average GDP growth annually. Since 2014 with the exception of 2017, India’s economy has been the world’s fastest-growing major economy, surpassing China.

What is remarkable about Indian economy is that India has one of the fastest-growing service sectors in the world with an annual growth rate above 9% since 2001, which contributed to 57% of GDP in 2012–13. As a result, India has become a major exporter of IT services, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) services, and software services with $154 billion in revenue in FY 2017. This is the fastest-growing part of the economy.

So, as of today, there are several initiatives by the government to improvise the manufacturing prowess of India. Make in India is undeniably one of the best.

Lets ‘Make In India’

On 25th September 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Make in India, one of the flagship programmes of our government intended to boost domestic manufacturing currently contributes approximately 16 per cent to the GDP and target is to take it to 25% by 2022.

Make in India focuses on 25 sectors of the economy like the automobile, mining, electronics etc. This emphasis on manufacturing will serve several objectives. First, it will provide employment to more than 10 million people. Second, it will boost foreign direct investment (FDI) thereby bringing development. Third, it will minimise the imports of various products so it will mitigate the pressure on our trade deficit. Fourth, it will augment our exports and lastly, it will help in bringing the latest technologies into the country.

India currently has an expanding IT industry which is considered one of the best in the world. Some have begun to describe India as a technology superpower. It is considered the World’s Office and is leading in the Services Industry.
