World’s richest man Elon Musk has secured $7.139 billion in new financing commitments for the acquisition of Twitter, a company filing showed on Thursday. Netflix has sent a memo telling its employees that they might have to work on shows that they “perceive to be harmful”, as it refuses to “censor specific artists or voices”. It added, “We program for a diversity of audiences and tastes…If you’d find it hard to support our content breadth, Netflix may not be the best place for you.”

The second top executive who was fired by Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal, has changed his Twitter bio to ‘unemployed’. In a now deleted tweet, Bruce Falck, who oversaw revenue, had written, “I’ll clarify that I too was fired by (Parag).” Falck later thanked his team in a tweet thread and said he can’t wait to see their future work.

Netflix could launch lower-priced ad-supported plans in the final three months of 2022 and begin cracking down on password-sharing during the same time, the NYT reported. It said the details were mentioned in a note to Netflix employees by the company’s executives. Notably, Netflix lost subscribers for the first time in over 10 years in the first quarter of 2022.

Google, Microsoft and Apple on May 5 announced they are teaming up to expand support for a common passwordless sign-in standard created by the FIDO Alliance and the World Wide Web Consortium. Through the new system, sign-ins will be possible through the same actions that users take to unlock their devices, like fingerprint or face verification or a device PIN.

Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal’s wife Vineeta Agarwala is a General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz, the venture capital (VC) firm that has agreed to invest $400 million in Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover deal. Vineeta leads investments for Andreessen Horowitz’s biotech and medical fund. As per reports, Musk is expected to serve as the temporary Twitter CEO after he completes the takeover.
