Benefits of different shapes and size of stone

When buying a gem as a loose stone or a part of a jewel, each shape and size has its own visual impact and position in terms of aesthetics and design. While personal preferences play a great role in choosing a stone cut in a specific shape, calibrated stones each have their own identities and visual influences on your facial features and appearance.
It is common knowledge that stones have internal vibrations, and that precious stones and crystals more so than others. These inherent energies are channeled and used in metaphysical healing, spiritual realization and to influence and help in daily life.
These benefits are carried forward in the shapes and sizes of gemstones as well.
As far as aesthetic value is concerned the benefits of round stones are direct and uncomplicated. If you have sharp poker features, fingers or neckline then the best way to balance them off and neutralize the edges is by wearing a spherical cut gem in a jewel with soft surfaces and curves.

Stones with spherical shapes – oval shape, round cut shape for example – are known for their ability to radiate energy outwards in every cardinal direction.
The uniformity of a round stone is magnetic and forms around itself a field of energy much like a magnetic field. It absorbs surrounding energies and results in an orderly aura which seems simple but is yet intricate – much like its physical appearance and facets. In short they represent prosperity, luck and attraction along with eternity and wholeness.
Oval gems are related to the form of an egg, making them mascots of fertility, abundance, birth of ideas and new life events.
Apart from faceted precious stones, perfect spheres are used in the art of divination.

Gemstone shapes with apexes or sharp marked corners – trillion cut shape, marquise cut shape, squares, emerald cuts and princess cuts – channelize their energy to their apexes instead of radiating them outward. This quality makes them grounded.
Visually their function is exactly the opposite of spherical gems – they counter balance rounded features in the wearer.
Square stones are the epitome of stability, keeping you centered and focused. This stabilizing effect assists in times of emotional difficulties and mayhem, giving you strength and courage to plough through.

Triangular shapes – like the trillion cut shape – is great for protection and composure. They are also known to project energies through their summits. They also represent sanctity – the holy trinity as well as the heaven, earth and soul which unite in the highest spiritual levels. The three summit’s also focus energy on your dreams and visions, bringing them to the forefront and allowing you to realize them. This increases exponentially in pyramidal stones.
Last but not the least is the diamond shape, a skewed square in appearance, which represents monetary advancement. Unlike personal and spiritual prosperity that an oval or round gem is associated with, diamonds are solely related to material wealth. It is usually not suggested as a gem to be worn without other balancing energies of calmer stones.
Choosing the right shape is not only about its meaning, but also what the giver had in mind when he or she bought it. Keep these concerns in mind and use these inherent qualities to add a second dimension of meaning to a piece of jewelry!
