n the midst of a heated discussion over transgender sports laws, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked if President Joe Biden believes biological men should be permitted to compete against female athletes. Jean-Pierre chose not to respond directly.
Instead, she made the apparent point that there were several viewpoints on the problem and frequently referred to the situation as “complicated”.
She was questioned on Nikki Haley, a former Republican governor of South Carolina who has made transgender athletes’ involvement in sports a campaign issue.
Regarding Haley’s claim that “the idea that we have biological boys playing in girls sports, it is the women’s issue of our time,” she was questioned about if Biden concurred.
‘So we’ve talked about this many times … It’s a complicated issue. And there are a wide range of views,’ she said, speaking about Education Department policies to provide flexibility in the development of athletics policies.
A reporter pointed to Biden’s granddaughters and asked if he thinks it’s fair for girls to have to compete against biological males. Read more
