You could not be more right — bravo!

I appreciate your comment, it’s interesting to hear from folks on the “outside” and how they view our politics. The news media in different parts of the world is really very different than the major news media here in America.

I was struck by your comment that “The reason why so many people are still supporting Trump would seem to be … that they are not interested in listening to anything anyone has else to say and weighing the merits.” That really should not be surprising, since you say your sources are “outlets for coverage and analysis.” Most of the analysis I hear, even in the states, is that folks support Cruz because they are racist, they support Rubio because they hate Muslims, they support Sanders because they are misogynist, etc.

I am not a Trump supporter, but the reason he has so much support is very clear to me. It’s the behavior of the politicians in the US for the last 20 or so years that have driven the electorate to support him. They have betrayed and lied to their constituents, they stab them in the back, they act so empathetic to the voters’ plight during election time, then ignore them while in office. They are condescending and dismissive. Their talk is a carefully crafted, flowery tribute to political correctness that says nothing and takes no position on anything.

Trump is the antithesis and antidote for this behavior. He pulls no punches, apologizes for nothing. Far from carefully crafting his speeches to avoid offense, he seems to want to offend everyone in some way at one point or another. This is a breath of fresh air for voters that are used to hearing well-rehearsed promises that are never fulfilled. Trump promises nothing except to do things differently than all those politicians. He has no record to stand on, so he proves he’s different by campaigning in a completely different way. People like that. They want different. In short, they do not trust anything the others say. They have been lied to too much.
