Who Is Really A Soul Mate?

We’ve all heard the term “soul mate” before. It’s used in different contexts to describe a different type of person. Often, your soul mate is referred to as someone who completes you. This someone makes you feel whole. This is someone you could spend your life with. Although, many believe a soul mate is not a compatible partner, rather the best friend you could ever ask for. Someone who understands all your complexities and helps you to become a better you.

Whichever definition you prefer to use for “soul mate” — we’re all secretly hoping to find our own. We all want someone who we feel completely comfortable being ourselves around. If it’s romantic, even better. But, a friendship can be more valuable than love at times when we truly need compassion.

Let’s take a look at some of the traits that may help you find your soul mate:

A soul mate is indescribable.

You won’t be able to put into words what this person means to you. There is a feeling throughout your entire body, soul and mind. Although you may try, the words fail to serve the feeling justice. This is a magical thing, though often frustrating. It’s hard to feel something you can’t describe. But, the magic is lost when you force a description for something so beautiful. Simply let the feeling grow and intensify.

A soul mate just gets you.

If you’ve ever had a moment when someone just knew what you were thinking — you know the value of this. There is something so comforting about knowing someone understands you to that extend. Yes, you can have minor understanding from others. But silence is hard to hear. Those with ears sensitive enough to know your silence are truly special in your heart.

A soul mate is a permanence.

There are many things that change in the world, but the connection with your soul mate will not. You may separate physically, for long periods of time. But once you’re with each other again, it’s as though no time ever passed. There’s a comfort, a security, in knowing nothing can tear you apart. In fact, there are times you’ll feel it’s the two of you against the world. You’re right. The two of you have something special that the world may try and take. But the beauty of a soul mate is that the world can’t take that connection from you.

Many of us fall in love and confuse it for something more than what it is. Ideally, when you meet your soul mate, you’ll know. There will just be this feeling in your heart that you’ve met “the one”. If that falls through, just remind yourself that soul mates don’t always stay together physically — but they are always together in spirit.

If you’ve found your soul mate, you’re one of the lucky few. If you can manage to keep your soul mate — the world around you won’t even matter. That’s a special kind of feeling that you’ll never be able to describe. But, you’ll always be able to feel it.
