What Are Your Favorite Things To Do In The Summer?
We take you inside the TF West offices to find out about our favorite things to do in the summer. Enjoy!

Summer in LA is unique. For one, Los Angeles hardly ever has bad weather; though when summer comes around, our temperatures soar to the triple digits. Summertime in LA calls for shorts, sandals, and bathing suits, that is if we weren’t already wearing those year-round! We live along the Pacific Coast, so of course we love to go to the beach! Huntington Beach can be overly crowded, but Manhattan Beach, Laguna Beach, and Malibu are certainly the “go-to” beaches for me. Having lunch on the outdoor patios of coastal restaurants is an absolute summertime must for me.
In addition to beach time, I enjoy amusement parks during the summer. Although we have numerous parks in LA, my personal favorite is Disneyland. The park likes to do special things during the summer, so despite the park getting crowded during this time of year, the exclusive summer treats are an exceptional way to cool-off.
The last thing — the one I find most enjoyable — is having barbecues. Being around friends and family barbecuing is probably the most fun thing to me. I am extremely family-oriented so being with everyone close to me is a “happy place”. The most fun I have in LA is when I’m laughing, joking, and conversing with family and friends over food, bonfires, and games.

The best part of summer is getting my family and friends together and grilling up some BBQ while playing card games, such as poker. I occasionally enjoy going to the County Fair in LA if it’s not too hot out, of course. On the quieter days, I love staying indoors keeping cool with my dog, Snowie. I also enjoy binge watching shows on Netflix — horror films are the best!
I am an avid bowler of over a decade now, and committed to league with my father, who first got me into bowling. Shout out to my coach, Missy Parkin who taught me a lot about the sport and taking it to a whole different level. I also enjoy playing and watching basketball — go Lakers baby! I can be a gamer at times, playing anything pertaining to zombies and bashing them excites me. One of my biggest dreams is to travel and experience different cultures all over the world.

As a Los Angeles transplant, one of my favorite things to take advantage of in the summer (and all year-round) is the beach! I love waking up early on a Saturday morning, drinking my coffee (and enjoying the occasional acai bowl), just knowing that the rest of my day will be spent relaxing in the sand under an umbrella soaking up some rays.
Aside from hitting the beach, I love exploring different areas within Los Angeles. We enjoy exploring our own backyard, Pasadena, and find so many neat nooks, restaurants and different hang-out spots. I like to take a day, pick an area and just walk around, up and down different streets to see what you find. It’s not only relaxing but also eye-opening. You discover so many new places and things that you may not have otherwise. The next area on my list to take the day to explore: Venice!

Summer is a great time for me to get outdoors and enjoy being ‘unplugged’ for a short while. Running a business that is so centered on technology and social media is exhilarating. I enjoy it immensely, but it can get draining staring at screens and managing virtual interactions. I place a high degree of importance on setting aside a few hours a week to get away from technology and get outdoors. The two activities I enjoy doing most in the summer are hiking and fishing, albeit for different reasons.
Hiking allows me to ‘unplug’ in an active manner. I just have to concentrate on putting one foot in front of the other while appreciating the scenery. It is very simplistic and I am able to focus on a singular goal. Being able to get a good workout while not focusing on anything besides the path forces me to be present and live in the moment.
On the other hand, fishing allows me to ‘unplug’ in a passive way. Being able to sit under the sun while I’m watching the fishing pole is like meditation for me. When I am able to go on the weekends, fishing clears my mind and makes it easier to reflect on the previous week and prepare for the next. Also, and I’m sure my coworkers will laugh, there is always a chance that I catch a giant!

One of my favorite things to do during the summer is cool off and relax at the beach. I enjoy playing in the waves (even when I get pummeled trying to body surf!), and relaxing under the umbrella and reading a good book always puts me in a good state of mind. Some of my best ideas and problem solving happens when I’m relaxing at the beach.
I also enjoy spending the summer nights on my balcony with my wonderful girlfriend Natalie and our cat Chester. The summer night’s sky is gorgeous! During the earlier mornings and later evenings once it cools off I like to go for walks and exercise. Living in Highland Park we have easy access to great urban hiking. One of my favorite trails is nearby Debs Park, and when we have visitors in town we like to take them up Mt. Hollywood. The views of the city are incredible!
Summer is also the time when I like to go on the offense in business. While others are away on vacation and relaxing, we push harder on our business operations and client servicing. The cool air conditioning at our offices makes sure we don’t overheat while dominating!
