Why entrepreneurs should pay attention to Miley Cyrus


Actors and entertainers build their careers on getting reactions from you. It does not matter if it is a “good” reaction or a “bad” reaction. They are supposed to do crazy things so you have something to gossip about, post on Facebook, and Tweet. It’s their JOB to entertain you.

The Cyrus family has mastered this.

Miley, formerly known to millions of kids as the Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana, is obviously adjusting to meet the entertainment needs of her aging target market. Her fans are changing and she is changing with them. She is staying relevant to them.

Keeping people engaged with what you do can be incredibly difficult. That’s why you have to constantly study the psychological makeup of the people you are trying to reach.

What does your target market look like? What are their hopes and dreams? What do the love? What do they hate? What kind of music do they like? What type of entertainment do they enjoy? This list of questions goes on and on.

It’s hard for a 65 year old man to relate to a 18-year-old kid. The older man more than likely does not like the same music, television shows or other forms of entertainment. However, if he makes a genuine effort to relate in some way to what the kid actually likes, he will make progress in the relationship.

The trick is that you have to actually care.

Miley Cyrus is clearly passionate about what she does and CARES about her fans tremendously. She is growing with them and dedicating her life to entertaining them in the way they want to be entertained. There is a lot to be said for this.

Most small businesses do a really poor job of entertaining their target audience.Especially when what they do is BORING.

The more boring your product or service is, the more creative you need to get with entertaining your audience. You have to take a GENUINE interest in the likes, dislikes, and lives of the people you are trying to reach with you company.

There is substantial opportunity ahead for the business owner who internalizes this.
