Let People Solve Their Own Problems

Trust People

The leaders of the world have gotten way too involved with the daily lives of the average human being. While in some ways the effort is admirable, it’s gone a little too far.

The press is giving ridiculous amounts of attention to ‘issues’ that would normally have solved with a simple conversation or confrontation in the past. Along with the media, leaders are pushing more and more rules down our throats to try and prevent these things from ever happening.

At this point people aren’t afraid of being picked on or difficult issues, they’re afraid of what would happen if they dealt with them the way they want to.

When I was in grade school there were several instances where I was forced into dealing with someone who was being a bully. Sometimes all it took was a clever remark to make them realize the error of their ways and other times it escalated to a push or a punch. In several of those instances the teachers had either seen or known about the way I dealt with the problem and turned a shoulder to it. Not because they didn’t want to deal with it, because they wanted to let us learn how to handle confrontation.

This week the headlines are filled with an NFL player’s experience with bullying. While I don’t condone the mistreatment of any human, I think this shows how defenseless our society has become. He didn’t confront the other player, he didn’t even bring it up to his coaches, he went public…

This leads to another human element that’s being decayed by the same problem, camaraderie. Friends, teammates, classmates, coworkers, and fellow humans are no longer standing up for each other. The leaders of the world have created the illusion that they will take care of everything. This is starting to remove responsibility from human nature all together.

I’ll stop this rant short by saying this: There are many ways to solve a problem, none of which involve inaction.
