Why I Gave up Being the Boss

I became a boss very early in my career, when I got the promotion I told my manager that I don’t think I’m going to like being a manager “I don’t want to abandon coding and spend most of my time taking care of others”.

I wasn’t promoted early because I was brilliant, I was an early employee and the company was expanding, I believe my understanding of the project and my devotion are the reasons why I was promoted.

Anyway my manager’s response was “when you are a manager, you have the chance to do the parts you love yourself and let others do the boring tasks”, that was true at some point but still is not enough as a reward.

I don’t know what my next step should be, maybe I’ll step down and maybe I’ll like it and stay.
