The most important lessons I’ve learned as a female entrepreneur (so far)
I’ve been playing the entrepreneurial game for about a year and a half. I’ve learned a lot. The hard way. That’s just how it goes.
This is the closest I’ll ever get in giving someone a step-by-step process to achieving their dreams. Hope it helps you skip some of the uncomfortable steps I had to struggle through!
- Spend your energy getting aligned, not shoulding on yourself. If you find yourself shoulding all over yourself, take a break, do the things that get you aligned and inspired (you know; remind yourself of your mission, move your body, find gratitude for how far you’ve come, call a friend or a coach etc); and THEN take action. Don’t LET yourself produce out of effort and ‘should’ and stress. You’re just wasting time and energy.
- Get clear on what YOU need and what kind of clients you want to be surrounded by. Who fuels you? What fuels you? Where are you most comfortable? You’ll be told by a zillion marketers and more that if you “do a podcast”, “do videos”, “write a blog”, “write an e-book”, “do live speaking events”, “have the perfect funnel”, etc. etc. etc. that you’ll find your right people. BULLSHIT. You’ll find your right people by doing YOU. You cannot follow someone else’s strategy for this — unless their strategy is to help you get crystal clear on WHO YOU ARE, WHAT YOU OFFER, WHO YOU OFFER IT TO, WHAT FUELS YOU; in short, your genius zone (or your dharma). THOSE THINGS WORKED FOR THOSE PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY WERE THEIR PATH; NOT BECAUSE THEY’LL WORK FOR YOU.
- Deal with your shame. Whatever fear or guilt or shame or self-blame keeps you from sharing your story and your most painful lessons, focus on that. Whatever keeps you from asking for what you need, focus on that. Whatever keeps you from showing your most vulnerable self, focus on that. Focus on healing your own stuff and you’ll be able to lead your path without obstacle after obstacle; shoulding on yourself; or confusion about who you’re really serving. Bonus: you’ll draw your people like moths to a flame ’cause in healing yourself you BECOME FUCKING IRIDESCENT.
- Create your business to serve YOUR HIGHEST SELF and it will automatically serve others. The feminine longs to serve her own pleasure and yet in our womanly bodies we so often spend entire days (and nights) serving our children, our partners, students, clients, friends, parents, etc. etc. etc. This causes burnout aka shivelled soul (that’s the medical term). You have to make it so that your business supports your PLEASURE or pays for you to seek out your pleasure. Ideally both, ’cause the more pleasure you hold in your body, the brighter you’ll shine. Humans are pretty universal in being drawn to people who’ve come alive. So, in the timeless words of Howard Thurman, “go do that”!
- It’s ok to create high ticket items right off the bat. It’s ok to create low ticket items forever. It’s ok to do everything by donation. It’s ok to work in person only, online only, 1–1 only, in group only, in workshop form, in membership, etc. etc. etc. See #2. In other words, do what feels most aligned with you. If you’re doing it out of love and not fear, it’s the right thing to do.
I believe that each and every person has a purpose on this earth. If your purpose is to be a leader of the divine feminine; you need to own your story, your roar, your truth, your desires, your shadows, your shame, your EVERYTHING.
Please connect with me if you resonate with the fear of judgement, of hurting the ones you love, of shame, of ‘not enoughness’ of any kind.
I’m currently filling my upcoming 6 month women’s circle:
Owning Your Roar: Go deep to heal so you can share what’s real. Your truth sets us free.
