Love.

Nimble was born with a love of literature and a fear of heights — an unusual combination for a Peregrine Falcon. You could find him resting in a window of the third floor apartment where his master lived, pecking away at a copy of Virgil. All that changed the day Luna caught his roving eye, as she glided off smoothly from atop a skyscraper in the neighbourhood.

Omnia Vincit Amor, he had read somewhere. Love conquers all.

The next time he saw her, he clenched his beak and closed his eyes, silently squawked Omnia Vincit Amor over and over, spread his wings and flew, hoping that his love for Luna would conquer all, even his Acrophobia. He hoped she would mate with him for life.
