No Man’s Log #003 110816a
Quite a bit has happened since my last report. Going forward I will most likley just focus on the key events that have happened since my last log. This is because as space opens up to me more questions and mysteries are presenting themselves to me.

When I reached the outpost I finally met another intelligent creature. Strangely the alien was a WorkGek and was friendlier than the ominous message given to me by the Gek Plaque had led me to believe. The language barrier of dealing with him was overcome by him handing me his tablet. It was a blueprint for building a Hyperdrive. I was very thankful for this but the Gek seemed disinterested and returned to its work. Was it waiting for me?
After gathering what I needed for the Hyperdrive and building it I received another message from an outpost back on Winkle. Travelling to it brought me to another member of the Gek who once again handed me his tablet and this time gave me some Anitmatter which I needed to make Warp Cells for my Hyperdrive. This time I also learnt who was sending me these much needed supplies, Nada and Polo are two names that the text on the tablet mentioned.
In what is becoming a recurring theme with my travels, I have no idea who they are or why they are helping me. But I am grateful for the assistance and it seems like them giving me what I need is bringing me closer to them. With the Hyperdrive built and with enough fuel for one jump I opened the star map on my ship’s computer.

If it wasn’t clear to me before I now know that space is vast and near enough infinite. Each star leads me to new systems and the sky is filled with them. A uncountable amount of them. The ship’s computer also allows me to see if any notable discoveries have been logged nearby but each time I search it comes up empty. So it looks like I am on my own when it comes to exploring the various systems I will be travelling to for the time being.
Before moving on I took the time to explore the Winkle system a bit more seeing as it looks like I might not be going back there. The ship is handling well and it is surprisingly easy to fly. A lot of the systems for it are automated which allows me to relax when travelling between places. However running low on fuel is a constant concern. I need to keep a better eye on it so that I do not end up stranded in the middle of space with no supplies or support.

Space Stations are also very interesting. So far there has been one in both the systems I have visited. They are mostly quiet and tend to attract traders of whichever race is seemingly in charge of the system. The language barrier with the traders means I can’t really talk to them to better understand my situation and what exactly is going on but they do understand one thing, Credits.
We can use out computers to broker deals with each other for our cargo and most seem willing to trade their ship with mine for the right price. The price being prohibitively expensive for the time being but it is good to know that I upgrade to a better home relatively easily. Space Stations also have terminals that link to a Galactic Trade Network which has been very useful in procuring critical supplies and selling my excess items.

I eventually took the leap and made the at the time one way jump to the next system which I named Yassril. It is here that I have had my first encounters with the Korvax. A collective of robots that are in charge of the system. They are very helpful and accommodating but a couple things I have discovered in the system worry me.
The first was a Korvax Manufacturing Facility that my ship’s computer highlighted to me. When I reached it the door was sealed but my helmet readout helpfully told me that I could blast it open with my Boltcaster. As soon as I started shooting the door three of flying robots descended on me and attacked. After brief firefight I managed to destroy them and examine their remains.
These machines are Sentinels and they are present on most, if not all of the planets I have visited so far in my journey. I experimented with a lone one later on to see what they would respond to. Evidently it seems they are there to protect the ecosystem of the planet. If they catch me killing too much wild life, mining too many materials or destroying plant life. Their task is to neutralise me as a threat. Strangely they are always on their own. So it is interesting that they attacked and defended the Manufacturing Plant in packs of three and in multiple waves.
Once I breached the Manufacturing Plant I could here the noise of whatever production was happening deeper in the facility but I couldn’t go further into the building. There was however a console that I could use. At first is displayed the following cryptic message,
“NADA NADA ESCAPE ATLAS FIND US NADA NADA”
It then displayed the formula for making my own Antimatter which I made a note of.
I’m assuming this message was left by Nada of Nada and Polo fame. It seems I made the right decision in turning away from Atlas when I first woke up. It seems connected to the Sentinels and in turn the Korvax in some way.

The second discovery was a Monolith I found down on Frostjarlmir. Like the Gek plaque it invaded my mind when I touched it. The monolith was the Remnants of Ayvushuchi. This time however instead of planting words of warning in my mind it gave me a horrifying vision. I was covered in bursting boils which tiny robotic spiders crawled out of. I felt the pain and it was horrific but I held my nerve. I fought the urge to run away or try to brush the spiders off me. I just kept telling myself that it wasn’t real. That it was all in my head. It wasn’t real. Was it?
Eventually my resolve and tolerance to pain was rewarded with a valuable Korvax item that I could sell later along with a sense that I had passed some sort of test. I wonder what will come of this.

The last thing I did before stopping for now was to buy a new Multi-Tool which has space for more upgrades than my initial one. Which means I am hopefully and slowly mastering this being lost in space lark.
