So you want to lose weight…

It started with a tight pant, the slight buckling of a jacket coupled with the slightest muffin top. It graduated to buying larger sizes, and hiding from photos, and simultaneous denial and self-debasement. I generally started to encourage the behaviors that might’ve caused all this in the first place, and let my four-times a week yoga habit and weekend runs fall by the wayside.

The result?

I want to lose weight.

Like countless other women (and men) before and after me, I’m looking to start 2016 with a fresh new outlook and even fresher habits. This certainly isn’t the first time I’ve attempted to do so, but I’m really hoping that this time will be different. I want to nourish my body and adapt a different lifestyle that is not only nourishing, but wholly appropriate for me. Hence the title: the new nourish.

This blog is an attempt to shine light on these aspects of my life, along with what I’m sure will be a struggle and a battle with myself and my slavery to mac and cheese.

The main thing to keep in mind though, is that ultimately I don’t just want to lose weight. I want to honor myself in a way that the bottle of wine or bowl of buttered popcorn doesn’t. I want the new nourish.
