Whole 30, Day 1
Slinking out of bed this morning, my stomach grumbling and remnants of last night’s New Years champagne lingering in the form of a slight ache in the back of my head, I was excited to whip up the first Whole 30 meal of January.
For the uninitiated, Whole 30 is a program intended to rewire your body a little bit, which fit in perfectly with my intention to reset completely. For the next month, no grains, sugar, dairy, legumes, alcohol, or crap.
I started my morning with a breakfast that killed that lingering headache: Eggs in Purgatory.
I shortcut the whole process though really, because all I did here was reheat some leftovers that I made earlier this week, balsamic chicken and chicken sausage (sugar free!) with tomato sauce, and pop three eggs in it.
Delicious, simple, and the first of six million savory egg breakfasts this month.
Lunch and dinner were more boring, and I should’ve taken some pictures. More pictures to come, I promise.
Lunch: Roasted chicken breast and green beans
Dinner: Roasted sweet potato and chili
I like roasting things, which you’ll see.
Other than the food itself, I can report that I’m hungry, only slightly irritable, and hungry. I think that champagne wanted brunch instead. But it feels good to be successful, and I’m currently ignoring the hunger in favor of a Project Runway binge watching session.
May tomorrow be just as straightforward. Let’s start adding up these days!
