Time flies…and how..!! Karan Johar’s movie Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna has already completed its 10th year. Karan, in this movie, dealt with one of the most delicate and intricate topics — infidelity. The film garnered average response at the box office despite its strong casting. On one end, the film was criticized by several sections of the society for its bold content, whereas at the other end, many critics praised the diversity of emotions in the film.

- Kajol had initially been approached to play Rani Mukerji’s part. And Rani Mukerji was supposed to play Preity Zinta’s part. However, Kajol was busy with the shooting ofFanaa and did not want to delay the project. Hence Karan Johar went ahead with Rani and Preity.
- KJo got the idea to make this film while he was in London. He witnessed a couple’s break-up on amicable terms, and that is what triggered him to dig deeper into the subject and come up with something.
- Karan had asked Shah Rukh Khan to direct the hotel room sequence (where he goes to get intimate with Rani Mukerji) himself, as he was busy with something else. Shah Rukh, in turn, asked Amitabh Bachchan to direct the sequence.
- Director Tarun Mansukhani did a cameo in the film. He appeared as Abhishek Bachchan’s friend.
- Riteish Deshmukh had also been cast in the film. But his part was edited out at the last moment.
- Karan Johar also did a cameo in the film. During film’s climax he’s seen walking behind Shah Rukh Khan talking on the phone.
- Director Ayan Mukerji appears in the song ‘Tumhi dekho naa’ holding gift boxes.
- The film is counted among India’s most expensive films. Reportedly, it was made on a budget of Rs 70 crore.
- Shah Rukh Khan had promised to complete the film first, but he shot forPaheli and completed it first.
- Amitabh Bachchan was hospitalised during the shooting of this film, due to which it got delayed.
- Ajay Devgan had earlier been offered to play Rishi, the role which later went to Abhishek Bachchan.
- The brand and promotions team came up with unique ideas for the film’s publicity. They came up with T-shirts with witty quotes and logos. Some of the T-shirts had “married or happy?”
