CEA, CNPAHS crowned Mr & Ms NORSU ‘23

Nathaniel Equio from the College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA), and Rachelle Hope Castillo from the College of Nursing, Pharmacy and Allied Health Services (CNPAHS), reigned supreme as the Mister and Miss Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) 2023.

Meanwhile, Elvandrick Pede and Atacha Huerta, both from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), emerged as first runners-up and hauled the most awards, garnering a total of seven distinctions during the prestigious pageant.

Ish Genesis Hongcuay from the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE), and Xindy Madel Aguinid from the NORSU-Bais Campus, made it as second runners-up.

Clark Elmaco and Cliff Johna Amante, both from the College of Business Administration (CBA), are hailed as third runners-up.

Vaughn Khian Alam from the NORSU-Bais Campus, and Riclette Cimafranca from the College of Teacher Education (CTEd), prevailed as fourth runners-up.

Candidates from the NORSU-Bayawan Santa Catalina Campus, namely Maurice Andre Gabunales and Christine Grace Ochoa, are both awarded the Best in Festival Costume.

Both Pede and Huerta of CAS captured the Best in Swimwear award.

Equio, from CEA, and Aguinid, from the NORSU-Bais Campus, were recognized as Best Speakers.

Elmaco and Amante, both from CBA, together won the Best in Modern Barong and Best in Gown distinctions, respectively.

In addition, Ramon Belotindos and Julaisah Galbasa, both from the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (CAFF), are respectively hailed as Mister and Miss Congeniality.

Elmaco (CBA) and Ochoa (Bayawan-Santa Catalina) are sashed with the Mister and Miss Social Media award, for garnering the most reactions to their photos on social media.

Pede (CAS) and Cimafranca (CTEd) are hailed as this year’s Mister and Miss Photogenic, judged as being the most attractive in their respective photos.

Both Torres and Cimafranca (CTEd) secured the Mister and Miss Professionalism award, determined as the candidates who showed exemplary behavior in their respective fields.

In the same line, Alam (Bais) and Huerta (CAS) won the Meldemure’s Choice Award, each receiving a sash, bouquet and gift certificate.

Huerta also seized the Fernandez Cake House’s Choice Award, along with Equio (CEA), who received a gift bag and a sash.

Both candidates from the Bais campus, Alam and Aguinid, are granted the Habi Bee’s Choice Award, with each receiving a gift pack and a sash.

Torres (CTEd) and Ochoa (Bayawan-Santa Catalina) garnered the White Space Studio Award, winning with it a cash prize, frame, and a studio package.

The pageant night was graced by Commissioner Aldrin Darilag of the Commision on Higher Education (CHEd) and the chair of the University’s Board of Regents (BOR), along with NORSU President Joel Limson, who joined the celebrations for the first time since Tuesday.

In his Founder’s Day message, Limson expressed gratitude to all university stakeholders for the realization of the founding anniversary gaieties, as well as flaunting NORSU’s top achievements during the recent board examinations.

“Thank you very much to all of you, and I’m looking forward that we can still go far and bring this university to the highest degree of fulfillment insofar as realizing its vision and mission for the country and for this university,” Limson said.

On its third night, November 1, the annual Mister and Miss NORSU pageant culminated, when Hari ug Hara sa NORSU 2022 Enrico Pis-an and Erica Cadayday yielded their crowns to the newly proclaimed majesties of the University.
