In this edition of the sports update, I go over the NFL Conference Championships, another weekend of college basketball, and games for this week.

NFL Conference Championships

Sunday saw the NFL’s conference championships take place. The first game was the NFC Championship, which featured the Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles. The game at the half was a two score game with the Eagles up 27–15. However, the 4th quarter was when the game got out of hand. The final score would be the Eagles 55, Commanders 23. Philly running back Saquon Barkley would run for 3 touchdowns, QB Jalen Hurts would throw for one touchdown, and Washington QB Jayden Daniels would end his rookie season with one passing td, one rushing td, and one interception.

The second game would provide more excitement and tension, as the AFC Championship would see the fourth meeting of Josh Allen of the Bills, and Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs, and just like the other editions, this one did not disappoint. The first half was a back and forth affair, with the score being 22–21 Buffalo Bills when they were stopped on 4th down in the fourth.

On the Chiefs drive, Mahomes would score on the ground with his 2nd rushing touchdown.

Josh Allen would then throw his 2nd touchdown of the game to tie the game.

However, as in every edition of this battle, the Chiefs would go on to win the game as the kicker Harrison Butker would kick the game winning kick and then get the 4th down stop to move on to the Super Bowl where they will face the Eagles on February 9th.

College Basketball Weekend

Saturday saw some great college basketball matchups, as 8 ranked teams would lose on that day. The day had plenty of upsets, highlighted by Texas coming back from 22 points to beat #13 Texas A&M.

The biggest upset however was Vanderbilt knocking off #9 Kentucky 74–69. Minnesota would beat #15 Oregon 77–69, Xavier would sneak past #19 UConn 76–72, and #23 West Virginia would lose to Kansas State.

As for ranked on ranked matchups, #7 Houston would need double overtime to beat #12 Kansas 92–86. #1 Auburn needed only 53 points to beat #6 Tennessee, and #22 Missouri would bounce back from their loss to Texas with a 83–75 Ole Miss win.

Sunday was more quite on the ranked games front as all 3 teams that were ranked that played, #17 Illinois, #18 Wisconsin, and #24 Memphis would all win comfortably.
