To caveat this article, this is not intended to downplay the importance of Coronavirus and the widespread effects it is having on global health. I would also like to recognise the people who have suffered and the people who are on the front lines working non-stop to end this pandemic.

LAURIE LEE’S COTSWOLDS

As the world stops spinning and humanity comes closer together to face a common enemy, streets are now becoming vehicle free and the smog is lifting from previously polluted skies. The noise of planes has all but vanished, but bees are still pollinating and whales are still migrating the vast…

From dreaming to drinking from an OB…

This time last year, Ocean Bottle wasn’t much more than an idea, or even close to reality… By the 31st of December 2018 we had secured a little over 500 pre order deposits thanks to our earliest supporters and we were building up for our Indiegogo campaign launch early in the New Year. The overwhelming response from the first 48 hours put us in first place on the Indiegogo page and helped us get global coverage for the campaign. …

Making the Ocean Bottle

What’s it like to make a truly sustainable product in 2019?

One of our core pillars at our company is to be uncompromising, both in terms of the products we make and our positive effect on the environment. From the outset of our development this has defined the Ocean Bottle, its design and how we wanted to produce it. The truth. It’s not as easy as you might think and if you produce something, there will always be a footprint… the question is how do you reduce this and make your product as net positive as possible?

Below find a run through of our sustainable design process…

This expression came to us in one of our early team meetings when the Ocean Bottle team and I were discussing what made us different. Our mission is to rid the world of ocean plastic. But our mindset, what drives our decisions, is no bullshit sustainability.

Why N.B.S Matters

We’ve all heard the statements companies use to draw a connection between themselves…

Many are left thinking that passing on plastics, recycling and cleaning beaches are the only ways they can solve this crisis. Even worse, some may soon despair due to the overwhelming amount of conflicting information and do nothing, leaving only governments and large corporations responsible to drive change. …

World oceans day kicks off in under 12 hours. Thousands of people around the world will be sharing articles or taking bigger initiatives by gathering together in protest or collecting plastic in their environment. This monumental day marks the global movement that is happening around the planet to protect our oceans. What we need however is for this monumental day to become a daily activity. We need to be collecting plastic 365 days a year at the source, to stop it from ever entering our oceans.

World oceans day 2017

The job of cleaning our oceans is growing by 22 million kgs per day…

one bottle at a time ain’t gunna cut it

Cleaning the ocean from plastic makes less sense than mopping up your kitchen floor whilst your sink is still overflowing — lets turn the tap off plastic first.

Since I started writing, one truck of plastic has drifted into our oceans. This equates to 8 billion kgs of plastic each year, the equivalent of filling every other car in the planet with plastic and throwing this volume into our oceans. …
