We are very excited about the newcomers in The Old Castle Defense, who followed us on the Warpcast (built on Farcaster). Today, we will explore the $DEGEN (Base chain) and NFT staking with High Yield in The Old Castle Defense(TOCD). We’ll cover where and how to purchase $DEGEN, the methods to stake $DEGEN and NFT and provide you with tips to potentially multiply your earnings.
Understanding the Basics
Before embarking on the journey of acquiring and utilizing $DEGEN tokens, it’s crucial to grasp the foundational elements:
- $DEGEN is a token on the Base blockchain and is the first Community-Driven token on the Warpcast and Farcaster. This philosophy is the same as the philosophy of TOCD.
- $DEGEN and NFT are the main assets in TOCD (Base|DEGEN);
- Staking is a process in which you lock these assets into a smart contract for a certain time (in TOCD, for the duration of the Siege), and in return, you receive a reward with your staked assets back.
- NFT owners/stakers are free to play to earn. NFT players have no risk of losing this NFT even if their faction loses the game. So if you have an NFT whose supply is 200 NFTs total — you are very lucky and unique. How to acquire and stake $DEGEN
Step 1. Token Exchange
- Head on over to any DEX that supports the Base blockchain and allows you to exchange for $DEGEN. We will look at the exchange using the example of Uniswap.org;
- Connect your wallet (e.g. Metamask or Zerion), and fill out the form as shown in the image below. And click on the “Swap”.
Attention! Make sure to select $DEGEN and the Base chain (as shown in the image).
Congratulations! Now you can start staking!
Step 2: Staking $DEGEN on The Old Castle Defense(TOCD)
- Go to the website theoldcastle.xyz;
- Click “Login/Connect” in the upper right corner and connect your Wallet (e.g. Metamask or Zerion):
3. Click the “Play Now” button on the Homepage to go to the Game page:
4. Click the “Stake to attack” button under the window of one of the Factions:
5. Enter or choose an amount of $DEGEN that you gonna stake:
6. Confirm the transaction on the website and in your wallet. If the transaction is successfully confirmed, you will see a similar notification at the bottom right:
Ready! After the transaction is confirmed, the Faction’s attack will be increased and if the chosen Faction wins, these funds will be returned to your wallet along with the reward.
A small but very important hint: The potential yield from your staking in The Old Castle Defense is dependent on the specific round in which you initiate your staking. Engaging early in the staking process can be more advantageous, as it results in a higher reward coefficient during the distribution of earnings among stakers. However, it’s crucial to weigh the risks before committing your assets.
How to get and stake NFT in The Old Castle Defense(TOCD)
If you are an NFT owner, you can play without any expenses — totally for free and with NO risks. You need to stake NFT in an active Siege, upgrade it, and heal to earn more rewards than your teammates. The NFT remains in your possession even if the Faction has lost the Siege.
Step 1: Acquiring an NFT
You can get NFT to play The Old Castle Defense(TOCD) in several ways:
1. From the Mystery Box: When you first log into the game, you get an Airdrop with 4 Mystery Boxes. To get more boxes, be involved in the community activities;
2. Participate in TOCD testing: write to us if you want to take the initiative;
3. Be active: help beginners, write instructions, tips, and hints. Our goal is to provide the best GameFi Infrastructure powered by the people made for the people; Community is the Power and the key to everything!
4. Buy an NFT on the Sphere marketplace(Powered by Merit Circle): if one of the users decides to sell an NFT, take advantage of his offer.
Step 2: Staking an NFT in The Old Castle Defense(TOCD)
- Go to the website theoldcastle.xyz;
- Click “Login/Connect” in the upper right corner and connect your Wallet (e.g. Metamask):

4. Click the “Stake NFT” button in the center of the page:
5. You will see a window to select your NFT. Select the NFT and click on the “Stake NFT” to stake it for the duration of the Siege:
6. Confirm the transaction on the website and in your wallet. When the transaction is completed, NFT will appear in the Faction window:
Ready! NFT is locked for the duration of the Siege and will return to you regardless of victory or loss. Don’t forget to heal and level up your NFT, these actions will increase its attack, your rewards, and therefore the chances of victory for the entire Faction.
Tip for the NFT Owners: At the end of each battle, NFTs receive a game currency called $SPH(Sapphire). In addition to healing and increasing the level of an NFT, you can also burn extra $SPH to increase your NFT reward multiplier after the Siege. If you do not have enough $SPH, you can purchase them from a Dealer for $DEGEN.
