Poetry Does’t Fit in a Medium
t.j. peters

(Spoken as a poet, print typography lover and web developer) it is frustrating to live in a time when it is so difficult to use text in a visually artful way!! I encounter this daily in work and in play. It’s not just a medium problem, it’s the entirety of responsive- and app- based web design.

Text is treated as liquid. Just fill whatever container you’re poured into, little letters.

It is one of the reasons I mourn the loss of print. I feel like a part of my creative self is stifled when it comes to poetry, because as much as I’ve been able to adapt my typesetter’s mind to web dev, I haven’t yet figured how to adapt my poetess to expressing herself fully on screens.
