The Price of British Citizenship

I just finished the visa process for a work visa for my new job (in the US) and the person I met with was like, ok, we’re processing your green card ASAP because no one understands this president’s policy on immigration and even though you’re Canadian we’re not taking chances. My cost will be relatively little (approx $500 to courier documents to my employer before I moved, and for previous visas I didn’t have to courier… so far, probably around $200 for previous applications … ) and then approx $1200 for my part of the green card… this is obviously a cost, but the emotional cost is something I hadn’t really taken into account. I am in the second most privileged employment category and I basically just want to lie on the floor and not think about anything.
