70% of women in this country are plus size, and that number is increasing. It’s the fastest-growing retail market today, in population and in revenue. But the reality is that there are virtually no modeling agencies in this country that sign models above a size 22, let alone with bodies that aren’t hourglass, of ages that aren’t just millennial. There are no options, and therefore real plus bodies aren’t represented or considered.
Even as a plus-focused company, we noticed this first hand. When we launched our first line of apparel in sizes 14–36, we couldn’t find models for our own campaigns. They simply didn’t exist in the modeling ecosystem.
So we decided to do something about it, to create a truly plus-inclusive source for modeling talent. We’ve discovered women who are talented and beautiful and real. They’re moms, they’re tall and short, they’re experienced and new. And most importantly, they’re not just for Part & Parcel. We did this for every company, apparel or not, that is ready to really progress — to show real women as they are, and include plus in the definition of diversity.
