Allowing a user to contextualise their journey through your product and define – in part – their own narrative should be a driving factor for a customer-focussed product in any sector. I’ve never thought about personalisation in terms of ‘for’ or ‘against’, only in degrees of complexity to formalise the areas of the product which should/could/won’t be personalised; even then it’s a grey area in terms of depth of personalisation!
