Hey, A. jon,

First, it wasn’t my Dad. I didn’t write the article, I just responded to your comment. I appreciate that you responded to me.

To some extent you have a point. I don’t think it was helpful for some college kids to try to shut down Charles Murray because they didn’t like how he did his research. They could have made their case in a much more reasoned way. There has been too much of that on some campuses. I also don’t like it when kids want to limit the curriculum to things that won’t get them upset. Go to college to get new ideas, says I.

However, when they protest against someone like Laura Ingram, who comes attempting to be provocative, with lies, distortions and divisive comments designed just to get attention, I think they are doing the right things. People shouldn’t be given a platform just to poison the discussion. If she would talk about party differences, or policies, or even her views on race and immigrants in a way that has some basis in reality, fine. But when people like that just want to get attention and stir things up. Someone ought to speak out.

I’m not saying it’s illegal to lie. We get lied to every day by our current President, and 40% of the country loves it. But I think it’s important to point out what the truth is. I don’t think that is just being “politically correct.”
