Hi A.P. ( if I can call you that)
I am going to make a couple of assumptions here, I’m sure you will correct me if I’m wrong.
I am assuming that you have been in the politically conservative camp for quite a while. I am assuming that you favor things like limited government, lower taxes, less regulations and that you are generally against attempts to redistribute American wealth.
I may be wrong about this, perhaps you were not that politically involved until Trump came along and reached out and connected with what you were feeling.
My first question is, especially if you are more of the first than the second, is Trump what you wanted and expected, or is he proving to be too much Trump? Did you vote for the “deconstruction of the administrative state? Are you pleased that many of Trump’s actions are probably unconstitutional. He threatens freedom of the press, of religion, he (and Bannon) want to get rid of the checks and balances in the Constitution, he wants to discredit the courts. They are working hard to limit voting rights — really, their priority is to consolidate power, intimidate or eliminate any opposition, intimidate or eliminate anyone who is not a White, heterosexual, Christian.
It certainly seems to many of us that Trump and his inner circle want to establish a populist, fascist government, modeled on Putin’s use of power. Does that bother you? Or are you fine with anything that upsets “the system” that somehow left you behind.
My other question is that before Trump came along did you feel that all of the advances in technology — in communications, in Artificial Intelligence, in new computer enabled scientific advances, especially in fields such as medicine, brain science, genetics, physics, and bio-chemistry were creating an exciting new world? Or did you feel that all of these innovations and advances were only destroying traditions, disrupting industries, and favoring a few, while leaving many behind? Or something in-between?
Just wondering. Thanks.
DJB
