Is the United States the greatest country?
The answer depends upon the way you measure. Anyone can pick any kind of measuremnt and say yes, no or maybe.
But, this is obvious: The U.S. has the most money, the strongest diplomatic power, both hard and soft, the most influence in matters of justice(hypocritical or not), economy, style, finance, entertainment, innovation, entrepreneurship, and freedom ( real or not). Did I mention the most money?
Yes, we have done terrible things and have made horrible mistakes. In many ways the U.S. means a place to start a business, work too hard and make a lot of money. Much of our influence is used to protect our corporations, or to obtain the energy we need to run our businesses.
I have traveledl all over the world, and a lot of people think the U.S. is a bully, or has terrible values, or is very dangerous. There is some truth is all of those. But everyone who has any awarenes of what is happening in the world cares about what is happening in the U.S. Many, many people would love to live here, if they felt they could deal with the competition and the stress.
Still, the U.S. has never resolved the basic flaws it had when it was first formed two hundred forty one years ago:
3. the value placed on the wealth of an individual, disreagarding how the person acquired that wealth.
These are flaws that have kept the country tense and badly divided since these flaws were written inot the Constitution ( see 1860). They are being highlighted once again in this years election.
