You know, when I was sitting in the airport on election night watching the (brilliant!)
Kady M.

So, yes. It was inevitable that the white working class would suddenly become part of identity politics, at some point; and of course, each identity group has it’s small minority of fruitcakes which take the ideology to the insane limits (e.g., the neoNazis).

This is something that fascinates me. Consider the following premises of the left’s identity politics (a resurrection of the Fascist era progressives):

  1. White people hold all the power
  2. White people are inherently violent
  3. White people want to keep non-whites oppressed and under their thumb
  4. Sure, legally they’ve given up this “power” and made races equal under the law, but we want more than that, and we all know they want to rule us anyway.

From those premises they conclude the route to get what they want, they need to take a sharp stick and start poking and teasing a sleeping crocodile. If you accept the racist claim that white people are what they say they are, then to worst thing to do is to “push the pink skins to the thin ice” — at some point, if you are right (and possibly even if you aren’t), there is going to be a reversal. The more brutally you poke that crocodile, the more brutal the response will be.

Now, of course, their premises are false but that doesn’t change the illogical nature of their resulting conclusion. Nor does it change what you stated: at some point there will be a response, and it will not be in favor of what you want.

Identity politics was the sole domain of the Marxists, socialists, communists, fascists, and national socialists in the early 19022. For the Marx based left-wing ideologies the common identity was economic class. For the fascists they switched it to nationality. Hitler then took this and added a racial component.

For the Fascists, their main “insight” into a better socialism was that the class based identity was not working. However, if they could broaden the identity group to something easy to identify and push the oppressor to clearly outside the group, such as “non-Italians”, they could build a more powerful identity group. By combining that with intimidation they came to power on the backs of labor union control an socialist violence.

Even today, if you go look at the website of The American Nazi Party (not going to link, it is easy to find but still not going to link it), they are clearly actual socialists, it isn’t “just a name”.

Looking at their platform, you could remove “White” from the planks, change Aryan to “minority” or “American” and many to most would be at home in the DNP. Some you don’t even have to alter.

We further demand that the state fight to eliminate every recognizable social evil and ensure social justice for every member of the racial community, including the right to decent housing, proper medical care and generous provision for old age.”

That certainly doesn’t read as a right-wing or especially a far right-wing statement.

We believe that a true community can function successfully only as a unified, organic whole in which all members of society join together in a great common cause and in turn are accorded personal respect as well as equality of opportunity. We also believe that every honest, hardworking citizen deserves to live decently, with full protection against all foreseeable material disasters beyond his control. Finally, we believe than an enlightened community must make the health and well-being of all its members a matter of prior concern, and that anything which interferes with the smooth and harmonious functioning of society must be ruthlessly suppressed — whether it be poverty, social injustice, class warfare, crime, sexual perversion, drug peddling, or any form of antisocial activity.”

Here is one that has only been altered in one place, by altering one word:

“As the foundation of any society, we recognize the supreme importance of a healthy farming community. Accordingly, we demand protection of the family farm by eliminating speculation in land and commodities, and by assuring a stable market and fair prices for the farmer, as well as the consumer. We further demand that qualified young Minority couples be given an opportunity for mortgage-free homesteading on land now held by large corporate interests.”

That is still a left-wing proposal, it isn’t even far left-wing. That would be mainstream progressive.

We believe that the proper function of an economy is to serve the economic needs of the people, not to make profits for big bankers and huge multinational corporations.

“We also believe that HONEST WORK is the only legitimate basis for wealth — not speculation, usury, or money-manipulation — and that a sound economic system must rest, not on debt or some extraneous metal, but on the productivity of the worker alone.”

Produced by deleting a qualifier on worker, this is, again, a much more leftist claim because of the stricture on “speculation, usury, or money-manipulation”. It goes on:

“…therefore money and credit should not be issued for profit, but to serve the legitimate needs of the people without interest.”

Following along we see:

“Towards these ends, we demand a phasing out of all forms of energy which befoul the environment, such as coal, petroleum, and nuclear fission. To replace them, we demand an immediate and massive program to develop new, CLEAN energy sources.”

More left-wing proposals.

Of course they do degenerate further into things such as wanting the government to get involved in religion, to establish an international Aryan federation of nations, and so on. But they are definitely and distinctly socialist, right down to the identity politics.
