Your Office Manager Doesn’t Want To Manage Social Media

Office Manager

Running a startup is a journey full of ups and downs but I truly enjoy learning more about our customers and the issues they face. Socionado is a platform that affordably matches top-tier social media managers to brands. Some of our customers include startups, local businesses, business professionals and more.

What’s clear to me from a lot of potential customers is the need to improve on social media presence. However it does baffle me when companies start to group social media with “other administrative services”.

“I need someone who can create content for Instagram, Youtube and Twitter. Grow our following on each of those platforms. They also need to answer phone calls and emails at the office. And coordinate events for the team.”

I can assure you that this is the perfect formula for an average social media brand and usually an annoyed office manager. If you don’t have the budget to have someone focus solely on social media I understand but then don’t expect your social media presence to be top notch. Just like coding a website or even designing a website, social media is a skill set. Creating engaging content and building a following on social media is not easy and requires attention. Office managers have so many responsibilities and it’s hard for a lot of them to throw on social media as one of them.

I would estimate that nearly half of our customers used to have their social media managed by an office manager or administrative assistant and the type of thanks I’ve received from them has been overwhelming.

Even if it’s a part-time social media manager, hoping you get one from Socionado :), make sure you get someone who is dedicated to establishing your social. It’ll be better for you, your brand and your office manager in the long run. Your social media presence in 2018 is how the world views your brand and its perception. It’s important.
