Which Workout Style is Best for You?

Looking to put together your own workouts? If you know what exercises to do, but aren’t sure how to string them together, this piece is for you! Read on to find out the different styles of workouts and how you can use them to complete your workout routine.

Repetition Based Workouts

Repetition-based workouts are focused on the numbers. In a repetition based workout, you choose:

  1. The total amount of reps you want to complete for any given exercise
  2. The number of rounds you’ll use to complete your total repetitions

A typical workout contains anywhere from 2 to 4 rounds of each exercise. The more rounds you include, the harder you’ll be able to work during each round.

For example, if you’re strength training, you may want to complete:

  • 6–10 repetitions per round with moderate to heavy resistance for a total of 3 rounds. That will leave you with a total of 18–30 reps per move.

For core and cardio training, you may want to complete:

  • 20–50 repetitions per round for two rounds. This will add up to 40–100 reps total per move.
