A Better Tomorrow

GOD DAMN! It’s great to get a new instrument. I’ve gone so long without one that it makes me question my priorities. But last week I bit the bullet and spent pretty much all I had to get an entry level bass guitar. Initially I wanted something a lot nicer, but stock is limited in Nova Scotia so I had to settle from something less. Either way it’s great to have a new instrument. It’s really interesting to see how the dynamics of your recordings change when you introduce a new element, and I’ve been a strong believer that you need to break old habits when you make music. It’s easy to fall into old methods and familiar sounds so I try to remain conscious of that and push myself into new directions. Some old sounds still make it through though — I can’t always help what my ear likes to hear. Enjoy.
