Ame-no-uzume

At the beginning of this week I discussed Thalia, the muse of Comedy. Today I will be introducing you to what could be considered her Japanese counterpart.

Ame-no-uzume is the Shinto Kami spirit of humor, comedy, and theatre. Like the muses, Uzume rules the arts and dancing. It is said that she created certain forms of Japanese art including Kagara, a form of story telling.
