Very interesting parallel. I don’t know much about Hamilton, but I do know about Cataline. It’s hard to plump for a version of events to believe, given the axes historians/commentators had to grind. Too few historian’s works survive. Even then, many were writing decades after the fact.

Fascinating time of history - all the cloaks, daggers, propaganda, statesmanship and hoi polloi. I think I could read about it endlessly, if there weren’t other fish to fry.
