We’re thrilled to introduce the startups in the Spring 2020 RLab Accelerator. Selected by RLab and resident venture capital firm Super Ventures through a competitive global open call, these five startups represent an exciting range of consumer and enterprise applications for spatial computing, XR and related technologies in healthcare, architecture, engineering, fashion and art.

The companies convened in New York City in early March to begin a 3-month residency at RLab. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the program has moved online, and includes weekly curriculum sessions, mentorship and support to help startups navigate growth in the emerging XR ecosystem amid the unprecedented disruption of the global pandemic.

Meet the Startups

DoodleLens

DoodleLens is a mobile-first AR creative tool for building and prototyping augmented reality experiences on your phone. Their app, available now on iOS and Android, makes it easy to be an AR creator by turning flat sketchpad scribbles into interactive, animated 3D characters, scenes, and stories.

IL3X

IL3X is an AR marketplace of digitally crafted garments meant to be worn in digital spaces only. By partnering with fashion companies and rendering their physical collections of clothing and accessories for augmented reality, IL3X allows brands to connect with users who want to enhance their self-expression online.

n*gram health

n*gram health develops immersive digital therapeutics for homebound seniors facing cognitive and physical impairment. Using virtual reality and proven approaches such as music and reminiscence, n*gram delivers a new form of therapy that becomes personalized over time based on a user’s own biofeedback. n*gram partners with senior care providers to serve families, and is designed for use by seniors and their caregivers. Initial user research demonstrates improvements in mood.

OpenBCI

OpenBCI has been making open-source tools for neuroscience since 2014. Their latest project, NovaXR, is a multi-sensor add-on for VR headsets. By making it simple to simultaneously collect data from the eyes, muscles, skin, heart, and brain of VR users in a 3d context, NovaXR dramatically reduces the setup time and cost for anyone looking to quantify how the human body will act and react in realistic digital environments.

SENTIO VR

SENTIO VR is an online platform that makes it simple for architecture, construction and real estate businesses to convert 3D designs into immersive VR experiences. With direct integrations with 3D modeling platforms, intuitive user experience & focus on standalone VR, SENTIO VR has been trusted by users in 100+ countries to create and share their design presentations and improve client engagement.

What’s Next?

DoodleLens, IL3X, n*gram health, OpenBCI, and SENTIO VR will be presenting at AWE USA on May 26–29. The flagship event of the global XR industry conference, typically held in Santa Clara, will take place online this year.
