Leni Robredo, the ‘Education President,’ receives a perfect grade for her educational goals

Based on data-driven and fact-based study and monitoring of presidential candidates’ platforms and track records in the 2018 elections, a coalition of organizations and education professionals granted Vice President Leni Robredo a perfect grade for her education objectives.

Education Nation, a coalition of 35 groups and 21 education professionals, gave Robredo a perfect score of 10 out of 10 for her proposals to solve the country’s chronic education problem in an online news conference on Monday, April 25.

“Leni Robredo is the only candidate with a detailed strategy to take us out of this mess,” said Philippine Business for Education (PBEd) Policy and Advocacy Manager Marco de los Reyes.

One of the first things Robredo will do if elected president is “declare an education crisis to assure an all-hands on deck reaction,” according to De los Reyes, who led the research for the voter’s guide to choosing the “Education president.”

Education Nation released its review of the presidential contenders’ programs and activities two weeks before the May 9 elections.

The 10-point education reform agenda was used to evaluate the intentions of Robredo, Bongbong Marcos, Ping Lacson, Isko Moreno, Manny Pacquiao, and Leody de Guzman in the education sector.

“Each candidate earned a point for every initiative, stance, and platform that aligns with the coalition’s goal of ensuring good education governance, conducive learning environment, and facilitating the empowerment of teachers and schools, and high standards of learning for all,” the coalition said.
