The word “Web3” has been going around for some time now, but what does it actually mean? Web3 is being touted as the “future of the internet” with the idea of building different technologies with a decentralized framework. Users have emphasized that the current technology that we’re in right now, Web 2.0, is starting to become more insecure due to the rising number of different hacking schemes such as (phishing, malware, DoS, etc).

Now, tech startups are in the race to build different decentralized products that will spearhead the adoption of technologies into the Web3 space. Projects popping out here and there but often possess issues for a lot of users, one of which is the lack of understanding on “Where to start?”

But one of the few projects that stood out to me whilst getting my hands dirty on the Web3 is Delta.Storage.

What is Delta.Storage?

Delta.Storage is a decentralized storage application that allows Users to be able to Save and Upload their files to the IPFS Network. To put into perspective, think of it as a Google Drive or Dropbox that you can store your files in.

Simple.

You can store any files you want, may it be CSVs, Plain Texts, Videos, and pretty much anything that you can store on your machine can be stored on your own Delta.Storage.

One of the best parts of this is that you don’t have to dig through massive amounts of documentation just for you to be able to display a “Hello World!” on your machine.

Let’s do a quick rundown.

  1. Create an account. To create an account, Simply go to Delta.storage and click on “Get Started — It’s Free” and you can simply choose either to login using your Google Account, or Github account, or simply continue with your email and your own password.

2. Upload a file. When you initially create your account, you’re given a free 1GB storage to store any files that you want. Delta.Storage offers premium packages to increase your storage, but we’ll get onto this later on.

For now, we can just simply select a file that we want to upload by clicking on the “Upload File”. In my case, I’d want to upload a video tutorial that I recorded for one of my online tutorials.

Once you find a file that you want to upload, simply click on “Open” on your screen, and you’ll start to see this small popout box on the lower right of Delta.Storage that displays the upload progress of your file.

And there you go! You now have successfully interacted with a Web3 Project with just 2 easy steps. What’s cool about this is that I can even watch the video that I uploaded on Delta.Storage directly.

There you have it. You’ve finally gotten yourself set up in the Web3 Space.

Important Note: Delta.Storage is still in its early stages. The team’s been working extremely hard to create more features that would allow its users to interact more with its application.
