LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Just when we all thought that the excitement for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was beginning to subside, the team over at Traveller’s Tales is keeping the party going with LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Obviously this game offers players the opportunity to experience the story from 2015’s hit movie with a spin that only a LEGO game can offer. However, in addition to this, players are going to be able to get an exclusive glimpse of the events that took place between Star Wars episodes VI and VII. For fans of the universe that wanted to see a little bit of a preface to The Force Awakens this LEGO title will definitely scratch that itch with a little humor thrown in as well.

Like most LEGO games this one is going to feature a good many characters from the Star Wars universe as well as a variety of vehicles to help you get around Jakku and the Starkiller Base.

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is going to be a pleasure for fans of the new movie, fans of Star Wars, and of course fans of the LEGO games that have gained such a following for their humor and lighthearted storytelling over the years.

Resident Evil 5 — PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

Resident Evil 5 on PS4

When I was younger and didn’t have enough money to upgrade from a PS2 to a PS3, Resident Evil 5 was the game that I would pick up and salivate over at GameStop while my mom shopped at the Chico’s next door. The gameplay was faster, the zombies were more realistic, and the setting was more alive. I guess for young me, this was the game that really proved the value of the PlayStation 3.

The PS4 and Xbox One version of RE5 brings the game up to speed with the newest console generation with 1080p resolution and a higher frame rate. In addition to the original campaign, every piece of DLC that was ever released has been remastered and included as well.

In addition to the classic “Mercenaries” mode (now called “The Mercenaries United”, the PC exclusive mode “No Mercy” is also coming to consoles. “No Mercy” was originally a twist on the “Mercenaries” mode that brought more AI into the game at once and also allowed for more enemies per session. The additional power of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One makes this originally PC-exclusive mode possible on consoles for the first time, making this version of RE5 the truly complete experience.

Inside — Xbox One

E3 Footage of Inside

For many, including myself, LIMBO is the original “indie” game that really saw widespread success and adoration from the community. Now, PlayDead is at it again with Inside. Although there aren’t many details available as to what the story is going to entail, Inside seems to be one of those games that is better to be experienced than discussed.

One thing that really impresses me about PlayDead is their ability to manipulate lighting and background to really give a certain vibe to their world. LIMBO is one of the most incredible atmospheric experiences in the history of gaming, and Inside appears to take that feature and run with it.

Although the details are pretty sparse, Inside still looks like a game that could very well be in the running for some awards at the end of the year if this title is the masterpiece that it has the potential to be.

Honorable Mentions:

Terraria — Wii U

Axiom Verge — Wii U

Prison Architect — PS4, XB1, Wii U

7 Days to Die — PS4 and XB1

  • normally I don’t make any comments in the “honorable mentions”. That being said, the console version of 7 Days to Die does not look the same as the PC version that has gained some popularity over the course of the past few months. Buyer beware, it would be wise to check out some gameplay of the console version before jumping on board right off the bat.
