Link to complete proposals:

Proposal 1: Training seminar and workshops for students participating in Inter-IIT Cultural Fest.

Need: The proposal if implemented could help boost KGP’s standing in Cultural Meet. The students will be getting help from professionals who can refine the talents of the participants.

However , the students who would be representing the institute will already be involved socult societies and GC. This much exposure is more than enough for the students to learn their art.

Implementation: Considering that last year’s contingent was largely drawn from corresponding societies, this proposal lacks any insight into the role of societies in these seminars.

Also, while the candidate has rendered efforts to mention venue and budget, he hasn’t given the period when these workshops would happen. Will it be after the selections or before? If after, how will the selections be done? If before, who shall be attending the workshops?

What about the students who have aptitude but aren’t part of the relevant societies — what is their level of access?

We think it will help KGP Cultural scene if implemented. But the candidate should’ve provided more details on implementing something of this scale.

Impact: The participants will get proper training and will bring laurels to the institute.

If the proposal is implemented and flourishes , the standing of inter IIT Socult meet will become at par with the inter IIT Sports and Tech, which it is not currently.

Proposal 2: Annual information brochure for students in freshman year.

Need: We think that the information about societies is sufficiently disseminated by existing structures like society introductory seminars and halls of residence respectively. The orientation program by the VP also provides relevant introduction to students.

We do not see how a brochure would help considering it wouldn’t be able to provide utilitarian information like dates of selections or events.

Implementation: TSA thinks printing brochures is a way squandering 1.2L rupees. This is a total waste of money which could have been used otherwise .

Impact: The brochure will not benefit the freshmen as such, the information seminar and orientation programme by the VP are more than enough for the students to get an insight into the society culture and make an informed choice.

Proposal 3 : GymK portal.

Need: Right now the students have to go through a rigorous process if they want to book an auditorium, which involves running for the signatures of a lot of people who are not available all the time, also involving the pain of multiple trips to get the job done.

Implementation: Since the creation of a portal involves the work of students with no support from outside, this can be done if people put in effort.

However, TSA can’t help but be sceptical about its implementation considering numerous candidates offered the same without making much inroad into it.

Impact: If implemented, no doubt the booking process will be smoother and more efficient. The life of the Governors will become much easier.
